Queen Mary’s Schools Walsall
Assistant Head (behaviour and discipline, attendance, interventions and mentoring)
Required for September 2019
Queen Mary’s Grammar School is an invigorating and rewarding place to work: the pupils are intelligent and committed to study; the staff are friendly and forward looking. It is far more than just a place of work – it is a thriving community, proud of its past and confident of its future. We are an outstanding school, as recognised by OFSTED in our most recent inspection.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated individual to join the leadership team of the school, overseeing behaviour and discipline, attendance, interventions and mentoring. The information booklet available sets out the role in full and the expectations of being part of the senior leadership team.
Queen Mary’s Grammar School enjoys a national reputation for academic achievement, topping the Walsall league tables not only for raw GCSE results (67% A/A*, or 7-9 at GCSE in 2018) but also for the new GCSE Progress 8 measure (+0.55 in 2018). 70% of A Level grades were A*, A or B last year but we do not rest on our laurels, encouraging all our pupils to take up the challenge of realising their full potential.
Now is an exciting time in the history of Queen Mary’s Grammar School. We are proud to be part of the Mercian Multi Academy Trust alongside five other schools which represent a diverse range of educational establishments: Aldridge School, The Ladder School, Queen Mary’s High School, Shire Oak Academy and Walsall Studio School; this partnership brings many advantages to our pupils present and future; as well as broadening the opportunities and experiences for staff. Please see the accompanying information in the full application pack for further information about the Mercian Multi Academy Trust.
Informal visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged. Please feel free to contact Carol Wood, Human Resources Executive, at the School, if you are interested in visiting us
Applications should be made using the application form accompanied by a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4 in which you should set out how your experience and expertise match the requirements of the role.
Closing date: Thursday 21st March
Interview Date: Tuesday 26th March
